JSW MG Motor India has increased the prices of its Windsor electric vehicle by ₹15,000 across its variants, adding a fresh development to India’s competitive electric passenger vehicle market.
The revision, reported on October 30, 2026, takes the MG Windsor EV’s ex-showroom price range to approximately ₹14.85 lakh–₹19.15 lakh.
The price adjustment comes as manufacturers compete for customers through battery technology, driving range, vehicle features and ownership costs.
MG Windsor EV Prices Increase
According to CarWale, the ₹15,000 increase applies across the Windsor EV range, including variants equipped with the larger battery pack.
The vehicle is offered with 38kWh and 52.9kWh battery configurations. The claimed driving ranges are approximately 331 km and 449 km, respectively, depending on the version.
The Indulge Edition, which is limited to 300 units, has not been included in the latest price revision and continues to carry an ex-showroom price of ₹18 lakh, according to the report.
The price change is relatively modest compared with the vehicle’s overall purchase cost. However, it provides an important indicator of how manufacturers are adjusting pricing in a competitive market.
Tata Punch EV Adds Competitive Pressure
The Windsor EV competes in a market that includes vehicles such as the Tata Punch EV and Tata Nexon EV.
The Punch EV targets customers looking for a relatively accessible electric vehicle, while the Windsor offers a larger vehicle format and additional cabin space.
According to ZigWheels’ October 30 comparison, the Punch EV’s starting price was approximately ₹9.79 lakh, compared with ₹14.85 lakh for the Windsor EV.
The difference in starting prices highlights the different customer segments targeted by the two models.
The Punch EV’s appeal is its comparatively accessible price point, while the Windsor EV competes through its larger dimensions, claimed range and feature package.
Electric Vehicle Demand Remains Important
India’s electric passenger vehicle market is developing as manufacturers expand product offerings and improve their distribution networks.
Tata Punch EV was the highest-selling electric passenger vehicle in September 2026, recording 4,666 units, according to ElecTree’s analysis of registration data.
The MG Windsor also remained an important model in the market, recording 3,419 registrations during the same month.
These figures demonstrate that the electric vehicle market is no longer limited to a small group of premium buyers.
However, competition is increasing, and manufacturers need to balance vehicle pricing, battery costs, production efficiency and customer expectations.
What Buyers Should Consider
Consumers evaluating the Windsor EV should compare the total ownership cost rather than focusing exclusively on the ex-showroom price.
Battery capacity, real-world driving range, charging availability, insurance, maintenance and resale value all influence the financial attractiveness of an electric vehicle.
Buyers should also compare the specific variants because equipment and battery configurations can differ.
Outlook for India’s EV Market
The latest Windsor price increase highlights the evolving economics of India’s electric passenger vehicle industry.
As competition expands, pricing decisions will remain closely linked to battery technology, customer demand and manufacturers’ profitability.
For prospective buyers, the Tata Punch EV and MG Windsor EV represent two different approaches to electric mobility.
The competition between affordable electric cars and larger feature-rich models will remain an important part of India’s automotive transition.
