The Bombay Stock Exchange conducted a market-wide mock trading session on Saturday to test the robustness of its trading infrastructure and ensure operational readiness in the event of technical disruptions.
The drill covered multiple segments including equity, equity derivatives, currency derivatives and commodity derivatives. Market participants such as brokers, clearing members and other intermediaries took part in the exercise, which is organised periodically to verify the functioning of the exchange’s disaster recovery systems.
According to exchange officials, the mock session is designed to simulate real trading conditions and evaluate the ability of market systems to switch smoothly to backup infrastructure if required. Such exercises are a key part of the exchange’s risk management framework and are conducted in coordination with market regulators and participants.
The test session does not affect regular trading days but allows the exchange and brokers to identify potential gaps in technology and operational processes. It also ensures that trading operations can continue without disruption during emergencies such as technical failures or connectivity issues.
Stock exchanges in India regularly carry out these drills to strengthen the resilience of the country’s capital market infrastructure and maintain confidence among investors and market participants.
